Where will the ceremony take place?
The ceremony will take place on Hanalei beach on Kauai's north shore. Please be aware that there is no shade on the beach and, due to restrictions, chairs are not allowed. However, an exception will be made to allow a few chairs for some of our guests who cannot stand for long periods of time, but for the rest, it will be a standing ceremony.
What time is the ceremony?
We plan on having an early morning ceremony so that it is not too hot nor busy on the beach. Also, it gives everyone enough time to get situated and relax before the luau later in the evening.
Will there be a reception?
We will not have a traditional reception. However, we do plan on celebrating later in the day at a luau. The location of the luau is on the south side of the island and is about 35 miles from the ceremony. Since there is only one main road, it'll take an hour to get there. The website for the luau is https://www.luaukalamaku.com/
Are you registered for gifts?
We are not registered for gifts. The only gift we ask is your attendance if you are able to. If you feel you must give us a gift, cash is always appreciated. To gift us cash, click on the "Registry" link at the top of the website and click on "Cash Fund."
What is Kauai's weather like in April?
Winter in Hawaii is from October to April and is the dry season in Kauai. However, there is always a chance for brief periods of rain. The north side of Kauai receives more rainfall than the south end. The average temperature in April is between the mid 70's to low 80's.
Should I stay on the north or south side of Kauai?
There are a lot of hotels on the south side which is considered more "touristy" and commercialized than the north. There are several resorts on Poipu beach (south side) which makes it convenient if you want to relax on the beach and then go back to your room. Poipu is also closer to the airport. The Poipu area is where we stayed at when we first came to Kauai in 2022 and really enjoyed it. The north side of the island has a rural, slow-paced island feel to it and has the best scenery. This is also the side where our wedding ceremony will take place. There are also hotels and beaches on the north side and a beautiful golf course called Makai Golf Course with exceptionally nice Airbnb's.

Do I need to rent a car?
Yes, you will need to rent a car. Although Kauai is a small island and takes about three hours to drive from one side to the other, the ceremony will take place on the north side and the celebration (luau) afterwards will be closer to the south end, which is about thirty-five miles or roughly an hour drive.
How long will you be staying and where will you be staying?
Since the ceremony will be on the north side of the island, we will also be staying at an Airbnb on that side, in a town called Princeville from 4/5/25-4/10/25.
What is the dress code for your wedding?
The bride and groom will be dressed in semi-formal wedding attire. Please keep in mind the warm and humid temperature of the island. Dress code is expected to be wedding casual. Ties are not required, but please no swimming shorts, t-shirts, jeans, or leggings.

What are some fun facts about Kauai?
Kauai is a rural island with a population of approximately 73,000. It is much less developed than Oahu and Maui, and has a small town vibe. The south end of the island is more "touristy" than the north side. The north is known for its scenery with beautiful, breath-taking views and is where David proposed. Kauai is known as Hawaii's prettiest island and is called the Garden Island. It was the first Hawaiian island discovered by Captain Cook in 1778. There are thirteen famous movies filmed on Kauai, such as: Jurassic Park, Jurassic World, Pirates of the Caribbean, Avatar, and South Pacific to name a few. Another interesting fact, if you like coffee, you should know that Kauai is the largest grower of coffee in the United States! The Kauai Coffee Estate has a free walking tour you can check out. https://kauaicoffee.com/pages/visit-the-kauai-coffee-estate
Other Miscellaneous Things I Should Know?
Please, please, please bring sunscreen. Hawaii is closer to the equator and has a higher-than-average UV index which means higher risk of sunburn or skin damage. Make sure to bring coral-safe sunscreen which does not contain oxybenzone and octinoxate, which are banned in Hawaii.
***IMPORTANT***
Kauai's airport in Lihue opens at 5:30am so please do not book the first outgoing flight back to your hometown at 6:00am. You cannot return your rental car until the car rental place opens at 5:30am and the shuttle will take forever to take you to the airport to catch your flight. Please book later outgoing flights back home. We unfortunately missed our flight back home last trip because of this.
I have other questions, how can I contact you?
