The name of Kauai’s only airport is Lihue, airport code LIH. There are no direct flights to Lihue and layovers are typically in Honolulu. When leaving Kauai to go back home, please do not book the first flight at 6:00am from Lihue as the airport doesn’t even open until 5:30am and they only give you half an hour to check in for your flight. Which means you would have to have gone through TSA by 5:30am, right when they open. This is a problem if the main road to the airport has a delay due to an accident or if you have a rental car to turn in since the rental car place also doesn’t open till 5:30am. We don’t want any of our guests missing their flights back home so please book later flights.
